Brooks Family Beach Trip

We spent a long weekend down at North Topsail Beach with Matt, Jenna, Landon, and Lola!  It was the first annual (because we will absolutely do it every year!) Brooks Family Beach Trip!  We had the best time.  It is so fun to see the cousins all together.  Lola and Ellison are only 7 months apart and Landon, who is 5, is so sweet to both of them.  I can't wait to see these three grow up together.  When I was little, my fist cousins literally lived right down the road from me.  I so want Ellison to be close with her cousins, so we will do everything in our power to make sure they all get lots of fun, quality time together over the years!

We stayed at Jenna's mom's house.  It is second row, so we were any easy walk to the beach.  We got there around 2:00 on Friday afternoon.  It took us about 5 hours to get there from Charlotte.  We got into our swimsuits and headed straight out to the beach!  Ellison really had a blast.  She was a huge fan of eating sand...and seashells!   I can't even count the number of times I had my fingers in her mouth to fish out shells.  She's so fast!  We had a plastic kiddie pool out on the beach that we filled with ocean water.  It was a lifesaver for us because Ellison was very into it and loved splashing around.  It was a great way for us to keep her contained for a while!  After some time on the beach, we got cleaned up (in the outdoor shower which I really wish I could pull off at my house in Charlotte!), and spent some time playing and taking wagon rides.  Early to bed for the kiddies and a little dinner, drinks, and quality time for the adults!

The next day, we headed out to the beach early.  We played hard for an hour or so on the beach and then Ellison headed into the house for one of her three hour marathon naps!  While she was napping, we lounged out in the inflatable pool in the front yard!  My sister and Bubba just happened to be at the beach that weekend too!  They were just about 30 minutes north of us in Surf City, so they drove down and spend the afternoon out on the beach with us.  We are so lucky that Ellison has aunts and uncles who love her so much!  After the beach, it was time for another outdoor shower and a dip in the front yard pool!  Ellison went in stark naked, because I mean, isn't that what a chubby baby should do?!  We took a nice long walk that evening down to what Landon calls the "Happy Spot."  It's a dock behind the fire station that overlooks the sound.  It is beautiful, very peaceful, and chock full of tiny crabs!  No kidding...there were hundreds and hundreds of them crawling around!  We had a yummy shrimp boil for dinner and everyone called it an early night!  The sun just drains you!

Sunday was more of the same...beach, naps, good food, pool, walks, and great company.  We ended the evening with a treat from the ice cream truck!  The weekend went too fast.  We are already looking forward to next year's beach trip!  We even talked about a fall/winter trip so it's not so far away!

Thank you to Matt, Jenna, Landon, and Lola for inviting us!  We love you!
